Regarding Reemote Server & Mac OSX Firewall

There have been a few reports of Reemote taking forever to find the server and even then not operating properly.

As it turns out, this issue seems to be related to the Mac OSX firewall or more precisely it’s Stealth Mode option.

EDIT: This should no longer be an issue

So, what does this mean ?

First of all, I’d like to apologize for any inconveniences and thank everyone who has provided feedback and debug info – you are awesome !

Second, a fix is in the works already, and should be available in the coming days, an update for both of the iOS App will ship in 5-10 days depending on how long it takes for review.

In the meantime turning off the Stealth Mode option should serve as a workaround.

Here’s what to do

1. Go to System Preferences and select Security & Privacy

2. Click the lock on the lower left, then click Advanced…

3. Unselect Stealth Mode

  1. I have never been able to connect. I do not have the stealth mode turned on and all my phone does is search. I am not confident that the desktop software is functioning correctly. I have tried several times to get help. Any one with answers would be appreciated!!!

  2. Some as above. Firewall is turned off, stealth not applicable, but cannot connect on the iPad. Fix or at least an answer would be very much appreciated.

    • Hey guys,

please excuse the late reply, I try to respond to anything within at least 24 hours, but sometimes I just can’t do it.

Now, I assume you both have the Reemote Server running on the same machine as Airfoil itself ?
If so, there is only one known issue that might be causing this, I have a more detail blogpost explaining this coming up, but in short it’s about using WPA2 encryption on your Wifi networks,
so in case you do use WPA2 only, try switching to WPA/WPA2 or WPA only, and see if that helps.
For further instructions or anything else, drop me a mail at kai@010dev.com

      Again, sorry for the delay!
